One of the most unique challenges facing the Star Wars Roleplaying game was how to give players the sense that, even though Luke Skywalker and company were out there, the galaxy still needed THEM.
Rather than having to stay far, far away from the shadows of those iconic good guys, the Rebellion Era Sourcebook ad planted the seed of the idea that the heroics of Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie couldn’t have happened without their help.
On the flipside, the Dark Side Sourcebook ad offered players the seductive prospect of creating characters that were “evil” from the outset—opening a whole new galaxy of possibility to their games.
